Seton Mains Update A new application has been lodged for Three. ![]() Seton Mains Update Both applications (recommended for approval) were pulled from East Lothian Council's delegated list by Labour councillor Willie Innes. Following a site visit the application for Long Craigs was approved. The application for Three Seton Mains was rejected by committee on a vote of six votes to five. The planning committee convenor voting against the proposal advised the committee member's that the bulk and massing, were inappropriate to the site. A statement entirely in contradiction to the opinion of the councils planning officers. Paterson Architects will appeal the decision in due course. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Conference and Concert Hall A 5000 seat multifunctional hall, 150 bedroom hotel and entertainment complex was our clients brief for this outline feasibility study. ![]() Etape Caledonia 2011 Nick Paterson completed the Etape Caledonia in Highland Perthshire on May 15th 2011. Our thanks to all those who supported him with donations to Macmillan Cancer Support and The Childrens Trust. ![]() Midlothian Houses A feasibility study for two detached family homes in the grounds of an existing home in Midlothian. ![]() Longniddry Extension East Lothian An original dilapidated extension was replaced with a new timber clad and zinc roofed structure, opening directly to the clients extensive garden. Recently completed work includes extension and alterations to an existing cottage in Aberlady and three projects currently on site in Gullane, Longniddry (below) and East Linton. ![]() House on the Hill ![]() 2010 RIBA Award The RIBA awards, among the most prestigious architectural awards in the UK are given for buildings that achieve the highest architectural standards and make a substantial contribution to the local environment. The judges were chaired by architect Simon Condor and included RIAS president David Dunbar and Peter Bishop, Group Director, Design Development and Environment, London Development Agency This is a seductive and welcoming building which takes maximum advantage from its setting through an architecture of consummate understatement. Paterson Architects gave a talk for the Edinburgh Architectural Association at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh entitled, An Extraordinary House Detailing the development of Three from planning to completion. The project also featured in the April 2006 edition of Grand Designs Magazine. The Sunday Times featured the house and Paterson Architects in an article by Dominic Bradbury. Grazing the edges of a quiet Scottish Hamlet...the house comes as a striking surprise. A contemporary cedar clad statement designed for upside down living, it would not be out of place in a style conscious corner of Austria or Switzerland. But here we are a dozen miles from Edinburgh... The house has been exhibited in, Architecture and Scotland 2004 - 2006, Defining Place. It was also exhibited at the RSA in Edinburgh, published in Building Design magazine and featured in Homes and Interiors Scotland, magazine.
