Nick Paterson RIBA ARIAS M.Arch B.Arch(Hons)

Nick studied at Glasgow’s Mackintosh School of Architecture, where he graduated with first class honours, a masters degree and several scholarships and awards.

After qualifying in 1991 he remained in Glasgow until 1994, having worked for Campbell and Arnott, Jestico + Whiles, and teaching part-time at the Mackintosh School of Architecture.

He subsequently spent 8 years working for CZWG Architects in London, where his experience ranged from design and project supervision of residential and hotel schemes, to commercial and masterplanning projects.

In 2002, he joined Foster+Partners to work on the Bishops Square project in London. His involvement spanned the initial planning phases through to construction on site. In 2006 Nick returned to Foster+Partners, to run the their Edinburgh office where he managed Quartermile, one of Scotland’s largest regeneration schemes. The masterplan includes the conversion of existing listed buildings alongside the insertion of contemporary residential and commercial buildings.

He also ran Forthquarter, which set on a former gasworks site in Edinburgh, is one of the largest strategic mixed-use developments in the city.

In 2004, with Jane Paterson he established Paterson Architects. There, his experience and enthusiasm for projects of all sizes, has helped to establish Paterson Architects as one of the leading award winning practices in Scotland.
