New Housing Main Street Longniddry East Lothian

This site in the East Lothian village of Longniddry previously formed part of a  garden belonging to a neighbouring property, and was used predominantly for parking and storage.

The site is bounded to the North by a busy commuter trunk road and to the south by the main East coast railway. Three terraced houses are carefully designed in plan and section to minimize their massing and, maximize amenity, privacy and, daylighting. Contemporary detailing utilising traditional materials, acknowledges and respects the vernacular context and scale of the surrounding buildings.

After a lengthy period of negotiation during which vehicle access and statutory parking requirements threatened the viability of the site for any form of development, the proposals were consented in June 2018.
