Pathhead, Midlothian.

We are currently working on some options for the refurbishment and conversion of an existing cottage in Pathhead, Midlothian September 2020

General view

The form of this new garden 'outbuilding' in East Lothian is influenced by the vernacular 'doocots' found in the area, and will provide our clients with additional space for storage and a workshop. September 2020

Dunbar Refurbishment

Like some of our previous refurbishment projects our proposal was to wrap this existing house – a 1960’s solid brickwork box – with new layers of extended space and insulation, wrapping the entire retained structure in a highly functional and efficient over coat. June 2020

Whitehill, Midlothian

We have been asked to explore the feasibility of designing two houses on a plot of land at Whitehill, Midlothian. With views north over Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth and south to the Pentland Hills. The site forms the eastern extremity of a linear settlement of building along Edgehill Road, and the entrance to the contemporary ‘Brambles’ development to the north of the site. Two semi-detached homes are proposed, arranged over three floors. June 2020

North Berwick

Our clients purchased this range of outbuildings in various states of dilapidation, with the aim of refurbishing them over time to create a spacious family home and office, with views east towards the Bass Rock and west to Berwick Law. Paterson Architects obtained planning consent and building standards approval for a series of significant additions and alterations, including a new roof terrace. June 2020

In April 2006 Grand Designs magazine featured Three Seton Mains. ‘Nick and Jane clearly excel in design minutae, whether its cutting a geometric shape out of a stair well wall downstairs to allow light form a small window to pass into the hall, or using sheets of clear glass to form an invisible safety balustrade for the outward opening windows upstairs. But refreshingly, what comes across is that this is a family home, not merely a show case for the couple’s skills.'
